Roofworks
Start April 2024Expected to end September 2024
Status: completed
This phase, as the name suggests, is all about repairing and improving the building's roof and loft areas.
This milestone includes
Asbestos survey
Start April 2024Expected to end April 2024
The roofworks stage of the project begins with an asbestos survey.
Roof replacement and asbestos removal
Start June 2024Expected to end September 2024
Weather permitting and if required we will remove and replace any asbestos tiles. this is a careful steady process and takes time and we can only remove areas we can safely recover with a temporary, weatherproof seal. Working in sections we will safely remove any asbestos before installing new non-toxic tiles. Once it's done we will install the new roof.
Updated inspections
Start June 2024Expected to end September 2024
Inspections play an important role in the overall building process and at this stage we'll take care to revisit the roof and external fabric of the building to ensure we have successfully removed any and all asbestos and replaced any damaged or missing tiles.
Loft insulation upgrade
Start June 2024Expected to end August 2024
An important part of the inspection involves surveying the current loft insulation. By law, we are required to ensure current insulation meets the legal standard of 300mm. At the stage, we will make sure the loft meets this requirement and install new insulation as required.
Repointing the chimneys
Start August 2024Expected to end August 2024
Using the existing scaffolds and, expanding them as required, our roofers will now take take to repoint the building's chimneys and make any other needed improvements.
Finalising the roof
Start August 2024Expected to end September 2024
Once we're happy with the insulation pointings, dormer windows, and the roof in general, we will finish off by laying new slate tiles where required.
Lightning protection
Start September 2024Expected to end September 2024
Nature can be tough on buildings and while relatively rare lightning strikes are bad news for buildings in general. Therefore, as the final part of the roofing process we will fit new lightning bands to ensure any strikes are safely and quickly earthed.
